Treatment of tendinitis/tendinosis is initially conservative with rest, adjusted activity, ice, medication, physiotherapy... For persistent cases, an operation on the Achilles tendon will be considered.
The procedure can vary from a debridement (type of cleaning of the tendon), to a reinsertion of the tendon on the heel (depending on the location), or a strengthening of the tendon by another tendon. Depending on the nature of the operation, rehabilitation may be lengthy.
