Releasing enclosed teeth and canine teeth

If your orthodontist notices a problem with one of the teeth that are erupting, he may refer you to an oral surgeon and ask him to 'uncover' the tooth so that it can then be fixed in the correct position using braces.

In order to determine the exact location of the enclosed canine tooth, a 3D scan will be made during the initial consultation. This way, the surgeon can determine the most ideal treatment for you. In some cases, the tooth is simply freed up so that it can continue to erupt spontaneously; in other cases, a brace is applied immediately so that your orthodontist can guide and direct the eruption.
