Continence

Potty training is an important process in growing up. This does not always go smoothly for every child - for some it takes longer. It is important to take a positive and consistent approach together: parents, childcare, grandparents, etc. The message is to start at the right time in a relaxed manner.

Children are toilet trained if they feel when they have to pee or poop and can hold it until they reach the potty or toilet. Every child also goes at his own pace; until the age of 3-4 years it is normal for a child to have the occasional accident.

If at the age of 4 your child still regularly has wet patches in their pants during the day (ranging from a few drops to a full pee), it is best to consult your doctor. Even if your child was once toilet trained and now has accidents again, you should consult your doctor.
