Een halsklieruitruiming of een halsevidement is een chirurgische ingreep waarbij het de bedoeling is de lymfeklieren en lymfebanen uit geselecteerde halsregio’s te verwijderen.
This procedure can be performed preventively if there is no evidence yet of lymph node invasion in the neck or if some lymph nodes have been invaded by cancer cells. The aim of this procedure is to increase the chances of survival, as well as simultaneously treating the primary cancer itself (e.g. surgery or radiotherapy).
