Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer.
Malignant changes arise in the lower or 'basal' cells of the epidermis. It occurs mostly in older people (more than 95% occurs in people over 40 years of age).
Basal cell carcinomas are easily treated. They are, in principle, the 'least dangerous' form of skin cancer. Nevertheless, adequate treatment and close monitoring is usually necessary.
Your doctor will discuss the treatment options with you.
