Dermatofibromas (benign skin tumours)

A dermatofibroma (histiocytoma) is a common benign brown spot on the skin.

A dermatofibroma is often thought of as a mole, but it is not. A fibroma is somewhat greyer brown and less sharply defined than a mole. They are firm to the touch, often somewhat dome-shaped raised swellings that are anchored in the skin.

These fibroids are often found on arms and legs. Dermatofibromas are slightly more common in women than in men.
