Disease

Dry skin

The skin protects us from invaders and harmful external factors. The sebaceous glands in the skin produce sebum, which forms a flexible and water-repellent layer. Factors such as dry air, frequent washing and soap can damage this protective layer. In an initial phase, dry skin develops.

Symptoms

  • Dry skin is less elastic.
  • It can cause complaints such as itching, scaling, superficial tears or wounds.
  • It feels irritated and slightly sore (or tender).
  • Red patches are possible.
  • Very painful fissures at a later stage.
  • It is more prone to eczema.
