EEG (Electroencephalogram) in children

An EEG is a test which measures the electrical activity of the brain. It is used to diagnose epilepsy, among other things.

How does it work?

  • Your child will wear a special cap during the examination, with electrodes to measure electrical activity in the brain
  • The child sits on a chair for the examination, small children can also sit on a parent’s lap
  • Older children will also be asked to sigh/observe flashes of light a few times during the examination
  • The whole examination will last max. 20 minutes
