Haglund’s deformity (excessively large heel bone structure)

Everyone has a small bone structure at the upper part of the back of the heel bone. If it is too large (exostosis) and causes local discomfort, this can cause chronic irritation due to pressure on a bursa (bursitis) or on the tendon (insertion load).

The pain is often triggered by a shoe that rubs against the back of the heel. In addition to pain, a specific swelling is clinically determined. An additional RX, ultrasound or scan further confirms the diagnosis.
