Cerebral contusion is a serious form of traumatic brain injury in which brain tissue is damaged, as opposed to a concussion in which no brain tissue is damaged.
A cerebral contusion always involves loss of consciousness for at least fifteen minutes and the loss of consciousness is also deeper than with a concussion. Other names for cerebral contusion are brain trauma and brain contusion.
