Forefoot pain (metatarsalgia)

Forefoot pain or metatarsalgia is associated with overload on the wrong bone structures of the forefoot.

Usually, it is an age-related problem combined with the sagging of the normal forefoot arch, which places excess pressure on the third, second and fourth forefoot radius. Achilles tendon shortening or wearing high heels can also cause overall excess pressure on the forefoot. Sometimes, a clear callus formation is also present. The pain occurs during certain walking activities, in less suitable shoes.
