A thyroid scintigraphy makes it possible to examine the shape, size and position of the thyroid gland. It also shows the overall activity of the thyroid gland and can map areas that are normally active, excessively active (e.g. a hot nodule) or less active (e.g. a cold nodule).
Patients with a hypersensitivity to iodine or radiocontrast agents can have this examination without any problems.
