Skin fungi (dermatomycoses) are microorganisms that can cause diseases of the skin and mucous membranes. Fungi commonly occur in nature: in the garden, in animals, in people, even just in the air, etc. It is therefore unsurprising that fungal infections are very common.
If you come into contact with a fungus, you will not necessarily become infected - it is actually rare. Sometimes the infection occurs on already damaged skin (e.g. small wounds), but healthy skin can also be affected.
Your doctor will discuss the treatment options with you.
