Tennis elbow is an overuse injury where the tendons of the forearm muscles attach to the outer elbow joint. These muscles run along the outside of the forearm from the elbow to the wrist. They serve, among other things, to extend the wrist and fingers.
Tendinitis is caused by an overload due to frequent repetition of the same movement, namely a gripping movement of the hand accompanied by a rotation of the forearm. This mechanism occurs continuously, but not exclusively, in tennis.
Your doctor will discuss the treatment options with you.
