Outer ear infection or otitis externa

Otitis externa is an outer ear infection. The outer ear consists of the pinna and the auditory canal. Most typically, the auditory canal becomes inflamed. An outer ear infection gives rise to earache and sometimes ear discharge. Hearing loss can occur if the external auditory canal is completely blocked by swelling and dirt.
