Hip arthroscopy is a new development in the treatment of diseases of the hip joint. The Jan Yperman hospital is one of the centres where hip arthroscopy is performed very regularly (>200/year).
Dr. Somers has more than 20 years of experience in hip arthroscopy. Dr Vanbiervliet has also specialised in hip arthroscopy and performs this procedure regularly.
During a hip arthroscopy, a camera is inserted into the hip joint through 2 or 3 very small incisions (0.5 to 1 cm) and the necessary surgery is performed inside the joint with precision instruments.
