A diagnostic block is a type of examination in which, with the help of a needle, a short-term anaesthetic is given to get an impression of whether permanent treatment makes sense. Treatment of the sphenopalatine ganglion is used for certain types of facial pain.
This can reduce or even eliminate the pain in some cases.
