Radiofrequency ablation of the lumbar sympathetic or involuntary nervous system

A radiofrequency ablation of the lumbar sympathetic system is a heat treatment in which the involuntary nervous system is blocked. The involuntary nervous system runs at the front of the spine.

The treatment is used for:

  • Circulation disorders in the leg
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) type 1 or Südeck dystrophy
  • Certain specific leg pains

The heat treatment is usually preceded by a diagnostic block.
