Fall prevention tips

A fall can have serious consequences, but many fall incidents are preventable. Staying alert when carrying out daily tasks and recognizing risks can significantly reduce the risk of falling.

The images below show examples of correct and incorrect situations. These will help to recognize risky behaviors and make safer choices.

Tip 1: Safe shoes

Wear flat, closed shoes with a rubber sole.

Put on slippers that fit snugly and offer good support.

Tip 2: Safety in the bathroom

Use a rubber anti-slip mat and a securely mounted hand grip for getting in and out of the bath or shower. A small seat in the bath or shower and a handheld showerhead are recommended.

    • Stay active and ensure sufficient movement.
    • Avoid carpets or use anti-slip.
    • Use the stairs safely: provide adequate light and use the handrail.
    • Provide adequate lighting.
    • Discuss your medication regularly with your doctor.
    • Have your eyes and glasses checked regularly.
    • Use a suitable walking aid if necessary.
    • Wear sturdy and closed footwear.
    • In case of dizziness: stay seated for a while and don't make any sudden movements.
