Biceps tendinitis

Biceps tendinitis is an inflammation of the tendons.

99% of all biceps tendon infections are 'secondary' - due to inflammation IN the shoulder joint or due to biceps instability. Considering the communication with the joint, a fluid effusion or inflammation in the shoulder joint also results in inflammation of the biceps tendon. The patient typically complains of upper arm pain along the biceps tendon and biceps muscle.

In rare cases, 'primary' biceps tendinitis may occur. This is a classic tendon inflammation that should then be treated as such. Anti-inflammatory medication, physiotherapy, local ice friction and local injections of corticosteroids are used for this.
