Eye socket fractures

The eye socket is the bony box that gives your eye maximum protection. Surprisingly, the bottom of this box (on which the eyeball rests) is relatively weak and breaks easily.

A fracture in the floor of the eye socket can cause the eyeball to become slightly displaced or the eye to move less smoothly. This leads to a disruption in the coordination between your left and right eyes, causing you to experience disturbing double vision. It is for this reason that serious fractures in the floor of the eye socket must be repaired.
