Cone beam CT

A cone beam CT is a CT scan with very low radiation dose that can be used for examinations of the teeth, sinuses and distal joints.

Preparation for the examination

The nurses will ask you to remove any metal items from the area to be scanned. False teeth also need to be removed.

Examination process

The examination can take places in a seated or lying position, depending on its nature. The nurse will help to position you in the unit. It is extremely important not to move during the scan.

Result

The specialist at the hospital will receive the result. You can go back to him/her after the examination.

If your dentist or a specialist outside the Jan Yperman Hospital requested the examination, you will receive a letter with a personal PIN code and instructions.

Please contact your treating doctor for more information.
