Dementia is a collective term for a group of disorders including several impairments in cognitive function.
Cognitive functions include: memory, learning ability, language use and the ability to understand and perform complex and daily actions. Dementia is generally chronic and progressive in nature. Memory loss is usually in the foreground, but that is not the case with all forms. There may also be changes in mood, personality and behaviour.
