A duplex ultrasound scan is performed in thoracovascular surgery. A gel is applied to your legs. This is to allow the “head” of the duplex device (also called the transducer) to make good contact with the skin. With our ultrasound machine we can check the flow in the main arteries of the leg. This way, we can immediately assess the cause and the severity of the vascular disease.
