Patients who have metal residues in their bodies (bullets, hunting bullets, iron splinters, etc.) should also report this.

Conventional examinations

Radiography of lungs and skeleton

What does the examination imply?

By means of X-rays one can obtain a projection image of the human being. The body absorbs part of the X-rays and the other part is transmitted. The latter part is captured on a photographic plate. This creates an image.

The duration of the examination depends on the part of the body to be photographed. You do not need to be fasting for this examination.

Appointment

It is not necessary to make an appointment for this examination.

Assessment process

You undress the body part to be photographed (including jewellery and bra). Afterwards, some recordings are made.

The nurse will ask you to stand still or to take a deep breath and hold it.

After the examination

You can resume your work immediately after the examination.

Result

The specialist at the hospital will receive the result. You can go back to him/her after the examination.

If the doctor or a specialist outside the Jan Yperman Hospital has requested the examination, you will receive a letter with a personal pin code and instructions. The images can then be consulted online via PacsOnWeb.
