Maxillofacial surgery in OSAS

If OSAS is caused by an unfavourable jaw position and an MRA treatment has clearly favourable effects (see also ‘Mandibular Reposition Device (MRA) in OSAS’), oral surgery can be considered.

This involves moving the upper jaw, the lower jaw and possibly the chin forwards. The effect is similar to that of an MRA, but the results are often much more spectacular and usually also with lasting success. Moreover, it frees you from the CPAP mask or the removable MRA.

Such procedures are often combined with orthodontics to bring your teeth into the most stable situation.
