A male sling procedure is performed for the treatment of stress-related incontinence in men. It usually occurs after previous surgery with damage to the sphincter mechanism.
After inserting a bladder catheter and administering antibiotics, an incision is made some five cm between the scrotum and the anus. After this, the urethra can be dissected free. A synthetic strip is placed under the urinary tract. Two incisions are made in the groin where the strip comes out. The strip cut off there and the skin and subcutaneous tissue are closed. The procedure takes about 40 minutes.
