Mission, goals and values

Mission and vision

Jan Yperman Hospital offers quality medical-specialist, high-technology, multidisciplinary care with a warm heart for everyone.

Quality, patient safety, comfort and teamwork are therefore the pillars on which the Jan Yperman Hospital rests.

Objectives

As a regional hospital, we want to grow and offer care programmes that meet the needs of our customers and the region.

We want to offer our clients quality and service - through a professional and multidisciplinary approach with respect for the individual - so that patient satisfaction increases.

We endeavour to create a pleasant working environment where employees are encouraged to develop their talents and clearly see that their efforts contribute to patient satisfaction.

We ensure that material and financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.

Our organisational form is in line with the organisational goals.

Values

Our mission and assignment statement are based on a number of values that always come first within the JYZ:

  1. Respect for the individual
  2. Sense of responsibility
  3. Loyalty: a correct and constructive attitude
  4. Openness and fairness

These values shape our attitudes and actions towards patients, each other and the outside world.

Mission Statement

Jan Yperman, a growing, enterprising and innovative hospital with a clear basis in the region.

The merged hospital groups the three general hospitals in the region - Kliniek Zwarte Zusters and OLV Hospitaal from Ypres and the Maria Hospital from Poperinge. The hospital is named after Jan Yperman (1275-1331), the founder of modern surgery for our regions.

Provision of high quality multidisciplinary specialist medicine.

The scale-up resulting from the merger offers more opportunities for further specialisation, expansion of medical disciplines and services and for broadening the range of medical paramedical services, thus providing a broader range of services to meet the needs of patients in the region.

Close cooperation with general practitioners and other first-line actors and with the care of the elderly for the continuity of care.

The hospital wishes to become part of a network of services, in close cooperation with the home health care sector.

Iron will makes us persist in taking everyone's question to heart.

We provide care to both hospitalised and ambulatory patients, regardless of their race, class, philosophical, religious or political beliefs.

The patient is at the centre of our concerns.

The wishes and needs of each patient are the starting point for all actions. We therefore strive for the best quality care: the patient is helped quickly, is treated as a human being and has a choice.

Every link in the chain is important to ensure the best care.

The administration, management, doctors and staff take the necessary initiatives to continuously evaluate and optimise the quality of their actions.

Wide range of medical services and resources, which are optimally deployed.

The hospital tries to use the best resources and technologies at a responsible cost.

Tailor-made work by professionals.

We demand high standards of professional expertise, commitment and a sense of responsibility from all employees. Training and further education are an important pillar in our organisation.

Attention to a pleasant working climate: enthusiastic cooperation in a family atmosphere.

The Jan Yperman Hospital is therefore characterised by open communication and a high degree of commitment on the part of all employees with attention to the work-life balance.

Networking with university centres and other hospitals offering highly specialised care departments.

The hospital wishes to engage in functional cooperation with more specialised hospital services and care programmes.
