Removal of a jaw cyst

Re-treatment (repeating the root canal procedure) is often the treatment of choice to get rid of a cyst. However, the tip of the root and the inflammation or cyst may sometimes have to be surgically removed too.

Surgical removal of the cyst is chosen when the nerve canal is no longer accessible (e.g. because a false tooth has been placed) or when the cyst does not become smaller after proper (re-)denervation. In some cases, the tooth which causes it must also be removed.

The procedure takes place under local anaesthesia and takes only half an hour.
