An ultrasound scan uses sound waves to obtain images. The sound waves are transmitted into the body by a probe and reflected by the tissues. The computer processes these sound waves into an image.

The doctor applies some gel to the skin on the skin and moves a probe over it. The images created can be viewed directly on the monitor.
The examination lasts for about 20 minutes and is completely painless.
The specialist at the hospital will receive the result. You can go back to him/her after the examination.
If a doctor or a specialist outside the hospital requested the examination, you will receive a letter with a personal PIN code and instructions.
