In case of a significant hypersensitivity reaction, specific skin tests are planned for you.
These skin tests are mainly intended to test very fast, acute reactions (usually within the first hour after use) to certain medications or substances. The skin tests are less suitable for detecting late reactions (after 20-24 hours).
A penicillin allergy causes a hypersensitivity reaction, where our body’s immune system reacts unnecessarily to penicillin (antibiotics). An allergy test can determine whether you are allergic to penicillin.
