Prenatal information

Prenatal consultation with a midwife

Every pregnant woman (with her partner) can visit the midwife for an individual consultation at the Jan Yperman Hospital between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy.

What?

The midwife will:

  • draw up the obstetric file in which all the important data for the birth are recorded (administrative, medical and social)
  • provide practical information on pregnancy, labour, delivery and feeding the newborn according to individual needs. Information will also be given on maternity stays, postnatal monitoring and maternity care.

You can also ask the midwife personal questions and discuss expectations and wishes.

When?

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Practical details

You can make an appointment via the maternity department on 057 35 60 87 (preferably between 8:30 and 16:00). A consultation takes about 1 hour and is fully reimbursed by the national health insurance.

The consultations take place in Jan Yperman Hospital at the maternity ward (route 17). Bring your identity card, a label of your health insurance and your maternity booklet. You are expected to arrive on time. Please sign up first at the registration desk in the entrance hall. You will be given a number of patient stickers to give to the midwife during consultations.

If you can't get there (on time), please give us a call at 057 35 60 87.
