In 2007, the maternity department moved from Poperinge to Ieper. To mark this new beginning, a special work of art was dedicated to all babies born in Ieper or Poperinge that year. Artist Pieter Boudens immortalized their first names by chiseling them into three stone pillars, which today adorn the maternity patio.
