The DIO team (Digestive Oncology Team) is a multidisciplinary team developing care pathways for people with malignant gastrointestinal diseases.
Our goal is to reach a diagnose and initiate a treatment for gastrointestinal cancer fast and according to the highest quality standards. Additionally, we want to offer support throughout the treatment process, both to the patient and to their immediate environment.

Our multidisciplinary team team includes gastroenterologists, general practitioners, dieticians, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and radiotherapists.
The team takes care of your physical, practical and psychological needs. You can rely on them for all kinds of questions and concerns. They work together and refer you to others on the team to find the answers you need.
Nurse Wim is a person of trust who will follow you closely. He provides information on examinations and treatments and accompanies you in your treatment process.
Social worker Sanne pays special attention to the impact of cancer on your family, work, studies and so on. Your family members and you can always rely on her for questions about practical matters, including transport, finances, social services, insurance, work situation and support and guidance in the home situation.
Psychologist Katherine can support and guide you and your family in dealing with the illness, its impact on your life or other emotionally stressful matters.
The dieticians can answer all your questions about nutrition and tube feeding.
Pastor Petra is ready to lend a listening ear. You or your family can talk to the pastor when looking for ways to make you strong and resilient, when you want to share your grief, hope or gratitude, when you have questions about end of life or when you have questions about meaning and significance. The pastoral service also offers the possibility of preparing a ritual in consultation with you and/or your loved ones. The pastor has a Christian background and always respects and appreciates different philosophical backgrounds.
