Your stay in the hospital

To make your stay go smooth and pleasant, we have made some arrangements about the daily schedule, the nursing care and the meals. We ask you to take this into account during your stay.

Schedule

Usually, the first hospitalisation day is dedicated to the medical examinations required for diagnosis or pre-operative assessment. Afterwards, the daily schedule will depend on the treatment. As it is impossible to determine this in advance, the doctor and nurses will inform you of this in good time.

Please inform the head nurse every time you leave the ward. Always wear a dressing gown when leaving your room.

The doctor will visit you regularly. If you would like additional information on certain matters concerning your health, your treatment or your operation, do not hesitate to ask the doctor. The nurses can tell you the time of the doctor's visit.

Nursing

We aim to have the same nurses caring for and assisting you as much as possible during your stay.

The nurse will check with you which of your cares you can or wish to take care of yourself. To make this possible, the nurses may ask you personal questions. Just like all other hospital staff, they are bound by professional secrecy and will treat this data with the utmost confidentiality.

Meals

For breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can choose from a wide range of dishes and ingredients (with adapted portions if required). You can ask the person who comes to take your order about the menu.

The meals are usually served at the following times:

  • Breakfast from 7:30h
  • Lunch from 11:30h
  • Coffee and refreshments from 14:00h
  • Supper from 17:30h

Adequate nutrition

The dietician ensures that you receive the diet that the doctor has prescribed. She will visit you regularly to ask about your views on the meals served. She can also visit you to give you information and suggestions on how to proceed at home in preparation for your discharge.
