On the day of admission, you must report to the admissions department at the agreed time (check-in).
STEP 1
Before your consultation, you need to register using your identity card at the self-service kiosks in the entrance hall. The kiosks are located next to the registration counters.
To register, insert your identity card into one of the kiosks or scan the ISI+ card at one of the kiosks.
Don’t have an identity card? Click here.
Remove your identity card from the kiosk.
Your contact details will appear on the screen. Check whether this information is correct. If everything is correct, press ‘Yes’. If any of the information is incorrect, press ‘No’. If you press ‘No’, you will receive a numbered ticket. There are screens above the registration counters. When your number appears on the screen, you may go to the corresponding counter. The receptionist will then assist you.
Is the kiosk unable to find any appointments in your name? An options menu will appear.
Select the option that applies to you.

You confirm your choice of room by signing
Patients with impaired hearing can ask for a button when registering, to be pinned on and make it clear to their conversation partners that they have a hearing problem.
If we meet someone wearing this button, we will speak loudly and clearly to make sure the communication goes well.
Identification bracelets are also provided. You have to put it on your wrist(s). These bands ensure that we can always identify you during your stay in hospital. Check that the information on your identification bracelet is correct and report it immediately if it is not. Be sure to wear your identification bracelets until you actually leave the hospital!
When you register for an admission, it is always a good idea to bring the necessary administrative information and personal items.
Depending on the type of admission, you should bring different items:
Administrative
Medical
Personal (in case of day admission)
The following documents and information are required for proper administrative processing:
In case of incapacity for work, you must immediately inform your health insurance fund. Have your doctor fill out the appropriate form (‘Certificate of Incapacity for Work’) and send it to your health insurance fund within 48 hours. Also inform your insurance company in case it pays for the hospital costs.
Foreign EU patients must have a European Insurance Card (valid for urgent care during a temporary stay in Belgium) or an E112 form (necessary for a planned admission).
For foreign EU patients who do not have a valid European Insurance Card and for foreign non-EU patients, an advance payment of €500 per patient is requested upon admission.
In an emergency, there is usually not much time to prepare for the admission. In that case, it is sufficient to have the mentioned items (see normal hospitalisation) delivered as soon as possible through a family member or confidant.
In addition to the formalities for an ordinary hospital admission, you also bring along:
marriage booklet or recognition form
maternity booklet or gynaecologist's referral
On each ward, in agreement with the treating doctor, you can stay overnight as a family member or confidant. When admitted to paediatrics, this is always possible.
Hotel stay + overnight stay (individual room, incl. breakfast) | € 55,00 |
Paediatrics: rooming-in private (sleeping-in parent in individual room, incl. meals) | € 50,00 |
Paediatrics: rooming-in standard (sleeping-in parent, multiple patients per room possible, incl. meals) | € 35,00 |
Paediatrics: rooming-in basis (always multiple patients per room, without meals) | Without surcharge |
Maternity: rooming-in premature (mum stays at maternity, incl. meals) | € 35,00 |
As a parent, you can ask to stay overnight with your child while he or she is in hospital.
